The Story

Forged by the land

Here in the West, land isn’t just a piece of property—it’s a promise. Since 1969, Orr Land Company has honored that promise, turning their knowledge of the land into an unbreakable bond with Colorado’s farm and ranch communities. It’s a legacy that runs as deep as the rivers carving through canyons and as strong as the mountains framing the horizon.

Orr Land Company’s story isn't just one of transactions; it’s a tale of generations walking the fields, mending fences, and raising cattle on the same ground we help our clients call their own. With a lifetime of hard-earned lessons in agriculture, we bring an understanding of land that only comes from living it. When you work with Orr Land Company, you’re not just working with experts—you’re working with folks who have love for the land and have a fierce pride for the place they call home.

We don’t just know the land; we’re part of it. And as we look toward the future, we hold tight to our roots. This land is our heritage, our livelihood, and our legacy—a legacy we’re proud to share with families who understand that owning land isn’t just about acreage. It’s about honoring the past, securing the future, and carrying a piece of the West forward.

1883

Wilderness

In the summer of 1883 Emil and Sophie Linke filed claim to a 160-acre homestead plat in Grand County, Colorado which was the inception of the family ranch. Thereafter, they continued to buy additional plats from neighbors who homesteaded, proved up and moved out. The ranch remains in the family today.

1952

Foundation

Alta Ruth Linke, granddaughter of Emil and Sophie Linke, married Jack Orr in 1952. Jack was the grandson of famed Hereford cattle breeder, Fred C. DeBerard, who had journeyed to Kremmling, Colorado in 1913 and established what eventually became known as the “The Peak” ranch. Later, in 1929, he purchased “The Jones” ranch. It was on these ranches, over many years, that he strategically built a Hereford legacy.

1964

The Trade

In addition to ranching, Jack Orr obtained his real estate license and embarked on his real estate career with Van Schaack Land Company in Denver, Colorado. It was there he began to learn the “secrets of the trade”.

1969

Legacy

In 1969, Jack Orr took his heritage and grit and forged it into a real estate legacy when he opened Orr Land Company. Raised on the rugged ranchlands of Kremmling, Colorado, Jack knew the land like few others. He would later purchase the Eagles Nest and Lost Creek Ranches along the South Platte River in Northeastern Colorado. His early years weren’t just about managing ranches – they were about taming them, understanding every inch, and working with the land, not against it. That knowledge became the backbone of Orr Land Company, which quickly grew from a small office in Kremmling to a recognized name in agricultural real estate across Colorado and the surrounding states.

1974

Integrity

From its early days, Orr Land Company did things differently. Jack believed that honesty, respect, and a firm handshake were worth more than high-pressure sales tactics. That philosophy hasn't changed. Today, the company still carries the same values, with a team of brokers and salespeople who know the land firsthand, many of whom grew up working it. They know that selling a ranch or farm isn't just about acres and dollars – it's about helping people find a place that fits their life.

1984

Expertise

By 1984, Orr Land Company had set roots in Denver and opened a branch in Greeley, managed by Jack’s son Ed. Together they brought Orr Land’s expertise to the front range and beyond, turning decades of experience into a reputation for integrity and skill. Orr Land Company has always been more than closing deals. Orr Land Company has a hand in everything from water and mineral rights to community developments, merging their expertise in the land with a vision for the future.

Present Day

Generations

Orr Land Company started with Jack Orr and over the years has been home to his three sons, Clair, Ed and Fred. Ed continues to manage the brokerage today. Throughout the years, many family members of later generations have joined the Orr Land team. Everyone on our team is considered family and those we serve are considered family as well. The Orr name doesn't just represent property sales – it represents generations of commitment to Colorado’s land. From managing the renowned Jones Ranch at Kremmling and preserving two miles of riverfront for open space on the Poudre River Trail to Ed Orr’s vision for The Cache in West Greeley, the Orrs know that stewardship of the land means leaving it better for the next generation and, in many cases, creating communities that will last many lifetimes.
